2 officers injured, man in custody after wrong-way driving in Ohio – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

COLUMBUS — Two police officers are injured and a man is in custody after a two-way crash in Ohio Wednesday morning.

Columbus police officers were dispatched just before 11 a.m. to reports of an accident at South Champion Avenue and Stanley Avenue.

A 2015 Lincoln MKC drove the wrong way and crashed into a patrol car, Columbus police told our news partner WBNS in Columbus.

David Becker, 62, fled the scene of the accident and continued driving.

The vehicle was eventually disabled and the suspect attempted to leave the scene on foot but was taken into custody, WBNS said.

Two officers were briefly unconscious and were taken to hospital by paramedics.

They are in stable condition.

The suspect was allegedly driving erratically and at a high rate of speed, Columbus police told WBNS.

Online jail records show Becker is in the Franklin County Jail for aggravated vehicular assault.
