One dead after crash in Lebanon

LEBANON, Ohio (WDTN) – One person was killed in a crash in the area Thursday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lebanon Post, a crash occurred around 1:39 a.m. on I-71 near mile post 20 in Deerfield Township, Warren County.

The accident involved two vehicles, a Harvester tractor trailer and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. An initial investigation revealed that the tractor-trailer and Jeep collided head-on while the Jeep was traveling the wrong way on the highway.

After the accident, the tractor-trailer overturned and both vehicles left the road.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, an unidentified 17-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The southbound lanes of I-71 were closed following the crash while emergency crews investigated the situation.

The crash was handled by the Lebanon Post of OSP, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Mason Police
Department, Deerfield Township Fire Department & EMS, Warren County Coroner’s
Office, Ohio Department of Transportation and Sandy’s Towing.

The Lebanese OSP is currently investigating the crash.
