The legendary club’s closure left a void in Liverpool’s nightlife – now it’s back

A former club that was a big part of Liverpool’s nightlife is set to return – so to speak.

Krazyhouse burst onto the scene in the 1990s and quickly gained fame for its indie, rock and alternative scenes. Affectionately known as the “K,” the club on Wood Street was a rite of passage for many.

But in 2018, the nightclub’s closure was lamented by many as the end of an era. Now some of the people behind the original Krazyhouse are bringing back a taste of the alternative venue with a new club called K1 Metal Club.

The new space, adjacent to the original club’s Wood Street address, will be dedicated to metal and rock music. This new incarnation at K1 Metal Club involved a transformation of the former Camel Club.

A spokesman for K1 Metal Club said: “There hasn’t been a proper metal/rock club in the city since The Krazyhouse closed a few years ago. There are a lot of one-off nights, but there isn’t a single club that plays weekly.” For fans, there is no longer a place where you know there will always be a rock night.

“Some key people involved in Krazyhouse from the 90s to 2010s met a few months ago and started making plans for the future K1 Metal Club. After looking at what buildings were available to us, we immediately decided that the venue known as the Camel Club made the most sense.
