The investigation into the tragic death of 14 people in a hoarding accident in Mumbai is intensifying

Hoarding owner flees with his family

The accused, Bhavesh Bhinde, has been fined at least 21 times for putting up illegal hoardings.

A serious accident occurred in Mumbai on Monday around 3 p.m. Due to the storm in Ghatkopar, a 100 feet high iron fence weighing 250 tonnes fell on a petrol pump. In this tragic accident, 14 people died and 74 people were injured. After this accident, an FIR was also lodged against the after-school owner. The police have intensified investigations into this matter. It is reported that after this incident, the hoarding owner Bhavesh Bhinde fled with his family.

According to media reports, BMC was given permission to put up hoardings measuring 40 feet by 40 feet. After the accident, it was discovered that the barrier was 120 by 120 feet. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has filed a case against the company that manages the billboards, Ego Media, and its owner Bhavesh Bhide at Pantnagar police station. RP Commissioner Ravindra Shisve has directed the officials concerned to immediately investigate the matter. At the same time, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra posted a clip on his X-Handle showing the billboard falling and wrote that such an incident was unacceptable.

Who is the owner of hoarding Bhavesh Bhinde?

Last year, this billboard was included in the Guinness Book of Records along with the Limca Book of Records. This hoarding was 100 feet long and weighed 250 tons. In such a situation, many people lost their lives in the accident. We would like to inform you that a rape case was registered against Bhavesh Bhinde, director of Ego Media Private Limited, the owner of illegal hoardings in Ghatkopar, at Mulund police station earlier this year. In this case, he was granted early bail by the court. Bhavesh’s legal team has said that this rape case is false. After this incident, the accused Bhavesh fled with his family.

Politics began with the accident

The incident during the Lok Sabha elections also caused a stir in politics. The Mumbai Congress wrote on a social media platform. At the same time, BJP MLA Ram Kadam said that this illegal hoarding was done by Bhavesh Bhinde, who is close to Uddhav Thackeray. By sharing a picture of Bhavesh Bhinde and Uddhav Thackeray, Ram Kadam has targeted former CM Uddhav Thackeray.

Commenting on the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “This is a very unfortunate incident.” The government will investigate this and take action against those responsible. I have asked the BMC Commissioner to conduct a structural audit of all billboards in the city. He announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of all those who died in the hoarding collapse incident.
