Croydon Road Elmers End accident: cyclist rushed to hospital

The incident happened just after 7pm yesterday (May 15) on Croydon Road, near Long Lane.

Police, London Ambulance Service and an air ambulance attended the scene and found the cyclist, a boy, injured.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, where his condition was considered non-life-threatening.

No arrests were made as police investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at around 7.08pm on Wednesday, May 15, to reports of a road traffic collision between a child on a bicycle and a car in Long Lane , Croydon.

“Officers, LAS and London Air Ambulance attended.

“An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries; his condition is not life-threatening.

“No arrests; The inquiries continue.

“Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC quoting CAD 7028/15May.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to an incident near Long Lane in Croydon at 7.06pm today (May 15).

“We sent resources to the scene, including emergency responders, a member of our motorcycle response unit, an advanced paramedic and an incident commander. We also dispatched the London Rescue Helicopter.

“We treated one child at the scene before taking him to a major trauma center as a priority.”
